The pedestrian underpass connecting the coach station with the railway station is also opening
The new coach station in Mollerussa (Pla d’Urgell) comes into operation on 5 March, replacing the previous facility on Carrer de la Forestal d’Urgell. The new facility occupies an area of 2,800 square metres and is located across from the local railway station, on the northern side of the tracks.
The station has a platform bay and outdoor waiting area with a capacity for five coaches at any one time, plus a space for an additional coach, as well as dedicated areas for coaches and taxis to park. There is also an indoor waiting room with information for users and a bathroom. The construction of the coach station had a budget of 872,000 euros.
Lines, companies and stops
The new bus station will provide services for around 165,000 passengers per year. There are three coach companies operating from the station, providing intercity services between:
- La Guàrdia-La Fuliola-Lleida
- Les Borges Blanques-Mollerussa
- Puiggròs-Lleida, Vila-sana
- Lleida, Bellvís-Mollerussa
With this new station, the route of the intercity bus lines will change and a new stop has been established on the Torregrossa road at the Font d'Albada roundabout, where coaches on the Balaguer-Mollerussa, Borges Blanques-Mollerussa, Puiggròs-Lleida and Bellvís-Mollerussa lines will stop.
Opening of the pedestrian underpass
Along with the coach station, an underpass is also being opened to connect it to the town underneath the railway line. This is the town’s first underpass. The structure measures 15.5 metres long and 4 metres wide, with an interior height of 2.75 metres, and is wheelchair adapted with ramps and lifts at each end of the underpass. The works involved an investment of 855,000 euros.
