Going to the beach
Catalonia has 119 blue flags - 95 for beaches, and 24 for marinas - which certify their environmental management and safety, and the quality of the water.
The PlatgesCAT website, run by the Ministry of Territory and Sustainability, contains information on the state of Catalonia's beaches, the services available at each beach, and the quality and temperature of the water.

Read a book
Every summer, public libraries offer their users the opportunity to access their collections in various locations outside the library building. These locations include libraries on beaches, at swimming pools and lakes, in town squares, on terraces and in gardens.
Visit a youth hostel
The Youth Hostel Network of Catalonia (XANASCAT) contains more than 50 hostels located all along the coast and inland, in the mountains and on the plains, in areas of great natural and cultural interest. The network also offers experiences all over Catalonia (cultural, gastronomic, sports and adventure, etc.) related to each of their hostels. For example, you could go to the Pyrenees mountain film festival, Picurt, and stay at the La Valira hostel in La Seu d'Urgell.

Do a summer course at university
Els cursos d'estiu de les universitats són una manera d'entrar en contacte amb aquest món acadèmic en un context lúdic i relaxat, amb una programació que inclou activitats de lleure. Per assistir a molts d'aquests seminaris, xerrades i cicles formatius d'estiu no cal tenir titulació universitària ni ser estudiant.
Attend a festival
Summer is the natural season for music festivals: small festivals featuring blues, jazz, traditional music and classical music compete with more well-established festivals in the summer.
Discover educational leisure
Summer activity programmes, sports camps, work camps, and stays are just part of the range of educational leisure activities for children, adolescents and young people. They are all activities that contribute to the individual's overall growth and to conveying positive values. This summer, children and young people will be participating in some of the leisure activities organised all over Catalonia by leisure education organisations, educational youth associations, parents' associations, businesses and institutions.
