A hunting license is a non-transferable document which identifies the license holder and authorises the holder of the license to hunt within Catalonian territory for a period of one year. In order to receive the license applicants must pay a fee which is used for administration, preservation, repopulation and supervision of hunting grounds.
In order to be able to hunt legally, in addition to a license, the hunter must have permission from the owner of the property on which they are hunting in the case of private hunting areas, and a specific permit is required for hunting in national hunting reserves or controlled hunting areas.
There are different types of hunting licenses.
License type A: Hunting with firearms and similar.
License type B: Hunting with other procedures authorized.
License type C: Pack of dogs
License type JA: Hunting with firearms for over 65 years.
License type JB: Hunting without firearms for over 65 years.
License type AT: Hunting with firearms and similar for 15 consecutive days.
Depending on the length, there are type A license for 1, 3 or 5 years of use.
- Hunting licenses may not be granted to persons who for whatever reason have been barred from possessing a hunting license. For this reason, there is a registry of persons who have been barred from holding hunting licenses.
Anyone who wants to hunt in Catalan territory. Applicants must be of at least 14 years of age and applicants of less then 18 years of age must have parental permission.
